Restauration
The activity of the Atelier of William Horn includes the restoration of antique instruments. The criteria for restoration adhere to strict principles of preservation of a historic monument, using the same techniques and materials used in the construction of the original instrument, for example the use of animal glue, or polishing with shellac.
Before deciding whether to make the restoration of an instrument, we can make a reliable assessment of the market value of the instrument, according to the expertise of well known auction houses (such as: Christie’s, Sotheby’s or Dorotheum).
In 1999, William Horn performed in collaboration with Grant O ‘Brien, restauration the spinet Giovan Francesco Antegnati on behalf of the Museum of Santa Giulia (Brescia).
